American Girls Kit and Ruthie Stay Upbeat During the Impression
Kit Kittredge’s life’s ambition is to be a famous writer. Equipped with an old type writer given to her by her father, the american girl Kit writes endless stories about make believe places and imaginary scenarios. However, when the financial crisis of the great depression hits the Kittredge household, Kit has a new found inspiration and begins to write stories of real life struggles of the difficulties of their times. She writes stories about her friends losing their houses and her father losing his job, forcing him to leave home to look for work elsewhere to support his family. Kit decides to use her ambition and deliver her stories to the local Chicago newspaper. Leary of hiring a little girl newspaper reporter, Kit is finally given the opportunity. Her stories are like a breath of fresh air to the city and new hope arises in this desperate time.
