Keeping things clean is absolutely essential whenever a surgical procedure is carried out, because even the slightest trace of bacteria or infection on a set of surgical instruments could end up infecting the patient and causing great postoperative problems. In order to make things clean most hospitals will make use of a Steam Autoclave which, as the name suggests, uses steam in order to remove any trace of bacteria from the surgical instruments that are to be used. The cleaning procedure is carried out after every operation and is used right up until the operation takes place to make sure that the instruments are completely sterilized.
